Invisible Christmas tree

Invisible Christmas

Illusionist Ramana and Cloudfactory create an invisible Christmas tree to save VU Hortus.

Amsterdam Dec. 22, 2011 – Magician Ramana, winner of the Uri Geller Show, has constructed an invisible Christmas tree together with creatives from Cloudfactory. Leaving only floating Christmas decorations visible. With this creation, they ask for attention to the many rare trees and plants on the VU Hortus that are in danger of disappearing. There are plans for the grounds of the VU Hortus to be demolished. Thus resulting in exotic trees being cut down, such as handkerchief trees and the Gingko Biloba, along with loss of the unique plant collections. The VU Hortus would like it’s living legacy to continue for future efforts to preserve species, genetically exchange plant material, and use the collection for educational and recreational purposes. Many visitors and volunteers are also very disappointed and hope that the plans will be stopped. Cloudfactory is a creative agency where different talents work together, including Ramana. They heard of the impending closure and wanted to do something about it. Together, they created the invisible Christmas tree. Thus bringing attention to the many rare trees and plants at the VU Hortus in danger of disappearing. The invisible Christmas tree was created with the magical techniques used by Ramana. They chose to style the tree in a classic livingroom, where a christmas tree would traditionally stand. The VU Hortus is located on the Van der Boechorststraat 8, Amsterdam and is open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 16.30. Closed between Christmas and New Year!
